There is an air intake in the basement for the furnace... I closed that off. That may have reduced some of the efficiency of my furnace, but I don't think it changed much. There is no detectable "fine sawdust" upstairs. How can I be so sure? My wife is Japanese and she runs a tight ship when it comes to house cleaning. She told me I'd be in trouble if saw dust made it to the upstairs. The basement however, does have some very fine sawdust throughout since my basement has no walls.

Most of the dust that gets that far on the other side of the basement is minimal and very fine. It's more of a light dusting problem than a problem for my computer. Plus the computer is an old one so I'm not as concerned if it dies.

Nice shop, I just posted a tour of mine HERE earlier today. I see you have the Grizzly 8" jointer, good tool. I' trying to figure out a way to get my computer in the shop but keep it safe from dust. My shop is much smaller then your but do you worry about the computer?
